The Best Palatine Exhaust System & Muffler Repair Services
At Action Auto Services, Inc. we know some drivers like a quiet exhaust system while others prefer a "the louder the better" approach. Either way, an unusual rattle when your car is running is a signal that it is time for an immediate inspection of your exhaust system.
Exhaust manifolds are frequently formed of cast iron. The cast iron construction of your manifold keeps exhaust from being cleared as efficiently as possible. Headers solve this problem as they are made of individual steel tubes that connect to each cylinder. Header tubes all connect to a single collector pipe. The tubes have a smooth interior that keeps gases flowing evenly to prevent engine back-pressure. If you want the performance of a header but the sound is a problem, talk to our mechanics at Action Auto Services, Inc. about an electric exhaust cutout. They are simple to install and allow you to open your exhaust without crawling under your car.
Get The Look Of Custom Exhaust Tubing & Tips
Straight, U, J, and S exhaust tubing are made with a smooth stainless steel or mild steel aluminized metal interior for maximum exhaust flow. At Action Auto Services, Inc. exhaust tubing can be configured for a custom exhaust system. Stainless steel exhaust tubing looks sharp and adds longevity to your exhaust system. Complete the look with stylish exhaust tips. Nothing finishes an exhaust pipe better than the crisp clean appearance of a polished stainless steel exhaust pipe tip.
High-Performance Header Upgrades
While exhaust manifolds and headers play a similar role, at Action Auto Services, Inc. we know they are miles apart on performance. Headers are upgrade parts designed for performance applications, while exhaust manifolds come standard. Both move exhaust away from the cylinder head to the exhaust pipe. Most noticeably, headers and its companion gaskets and wider exhaust pipe are much louder than a traditional manifold. But more importantly, the header improves exhaust system performance.
Loud Exhaust and Muffler Services
X-pipe and H-pipes synchronize the balance of the exhaust pulses from each cylinder based on firing order to increase efficiency. Many high-performance car owners like the deeper rumbling sound of H-pipes. If you own a street rod, Lake Pipes and Side Pipes route exhaust along or beside the bottom of your car body offering both increased performance, vintage look, and an aggressive sound. When it comes to trucks and diesel, consider smoke stack exhaust pipes to improve engine efficiency, pulling power and performance.

- Catalytic Converter Replacement: Your catalytic converter is the most expensive part of your exhaust system. When your catalytic converter begins to fail, you will hear a very loud rattling noise or your "check engine light" will begin to flash. Come by Action Auto Services, Inc. at 648 E Northwest Hwy and we will diagnose the problem right away.
- O2 Sensor Replacement: Ask any mechanic at Action Auto Services, Inc. and they will tell you to have your O2 sensor inspected regularly. Oxygen sensors work in conjunction with your catalytic converter to monitor the amount of oxygen in your car's exhaust system. Your O2 sensor determines if your air to fuel ratio is balanced in real-time as you accelerate or idle. It helps your engine controller adjust the flow of fuel to maintain optimum oxygen to fuel mixture.

I had an appointment at another shop that was a installer for tires that I had purchased at Tire Rack (Pep Boys Palatine). When I got there at my scheduled appointment time they told me it would be at least a two hour wait before they got to my car. I asked what was the purpose of making an appointment then? I then asked how much additional fees would be for installing my tires as their fee was advertised as $78. I realized that my car had tire pressure sensors and it was a good idea to replace them while the tires were off the rims. I had priced what Tire pressure sensors for my car would cost before I got to their shop. The price varied from different sources but the range was from $30 to $80 each. I figured on the high end as I was a new customer to them. So in my mind $80 X 4 = $320 + $78 install = $398 + tax $40 Total around $438. They said $548!!! I said what is the extra $110 for. Pep Boys says to program the sensors. At this point I was furious, so I said forget it I'll take my tires somewhere else. I went down the street to Action Auto where the owner Ira, listened to my story and took my car in without an appointment. They then removed my tires and tire pressure sensors and mounted my new tires with new tire pressure sensors, balanced the tires and reprogrammed the tire sensors to be compatible with my cars system. They even checked and doubled checked that all four tire sensors were showing the correct tire pressures. The cost for all these services with tax out the door $318. $318 vs. Pep Boys $548 not to mention them telling me I would have to wait at least two hours before they could get to my scheduled appointment, I guess I made the right decision plus I saved $230! Thanks Ira, Jose and Mike!!!!!!!
